Light touch
Enough to keep one agreed objective honest: scheduled reviews, guidance between them, and the reading and templates that save you working it out twice.
Mentoring and coaching
Senior marketing judgement alongside you while you decide where to focus, plus the accountability that keeps the plan moving after the decision is made.
The situation
Most marketing leaders are not short of ideas. They are short of a way to decide which three of the twenty matter this quarter, and short of anyone senior enough to argue the decision through with them before it becomes a budget.
Mentoring puts that person in the room. It also puts a review in the diary, which is the part that turns a good decision into a finished piece of work rather than an intention that is quietly overtaken by the next urgent thing.
How an engagement works
Support is only useful once it is aimed at something. So every engagement starts with a review, and the review ends in a written outcome we both sign up to.
A review of the business, the market and the current marketing, deep enough to tell you where the next gain actually is.
One defined piece of work with a target and a date, written down. Smaller scope is a valid answer, and often the right one.
Sessions, guidance and 1-2-1 or team training aimed at that outcome, with the work staying in your team's hands.
Progress measured against the thing we agreed, not against activity. Then either widen the scope or stop.
Where it starts
Step 01 above always produces a written document, and you can buy that document on its own. Three depths of it, three fixed fees. They are one-off prices per plan: nothing here recurs, and nothing here commits you to what comes after.
One online working session examining your current business focus and marketing activity against what you are trying to achieve, followed by a concise written document. A quick read of the business, the market and the options open to you, with recommendations and improvement suggestions that act as a guide to the actions required.
Everything in the Rapid Review, opening with a deeper review of your positioning against the offerings, messaging and marketing of your competitors. A full working session then completes an internal and external audit, identifies your target purchasers and the journey they take to becoming a customer, sets the objectives, and identifies, prioritises and selects the strategies to meet them — each with what it will deliver, its approximate cost, and how it will be progressed and measured. You receive a written plan defining the next 12 months.
Everything in the Marketing Plan, plus a detailed strategic plan looking 12 to 36 months ahead rather than one year. The most comprehensive of the three, and the right one where the question is which markets and which propositions rather than which campaigns. See strategy and planning.
Prices are per plan, one-off, and confirmed in writing before work begins. What follows the plan is quoted separately, against the outcome it is meant to produce — and plenty of clients take the plan away and run it themselves. More on how we price.
Levels of support
The difference between them is how much of the work we take on together, not how much of a diary is booked. Each is quoted against the outcome it is meant to produce.
Enough to keep one agreed objective honest: scheduled reviews, guidance between them, and the reading and templates that save you working it out twice.
The same, plus one-to-one training and closer involvement while the work is delivered — for leaders building capability in a small team as they go.
A broader remit: leadership and delivery mentoring, team training, tracked results, and support with influence, presence and the route to a marketing director or CMO role.
Needs that sit outside these three are quoted as their own defined piece of work.
